Congratulations to Suffolk Rockets Netball Club on their phenomenal achievement at the ENG U16 Netball Cup Eastern Finals! After an exciting day of competition, Suffolk Rockets battled their way to the Nationals for the first time in five years, showcasing remarkable teamwork, resilience, and skill throughout the tournament.
The Rockets entered the Eastern Finals with a squad of 10 players, determined to give their best against some of the biggest names in netball. In the group stage, they demonstrated their adaptability with rolling substitutions, allowing them to maintain energy and adjust their strategies in real-time. Their wins over Fusion and Yendys and a draw against Conquerors U14 gave them a solid foundation to progress. Although they faced setbacks, Suffolk Rockets used the group stage to build confidence and refine their on-court combinations, ultimately setting themselves up for an incredible run in the knockout stages.
The quarterfinals against Hatfield was a standout moment for the team, especially after a challenging group-stage game against the same opponents. This time, the Rockets delivered their best performance yet, fighting hard to secure a spot in the semi-finals. They took on Conquerors U14 once more in the semis, and with grit and determination, the team clinched the win, sealing their place in the Nationals.
In a thrilling final match against Conquerors U16, the Rockets fought fiercely, narrowly missing the win by just two points—a marked improvement from their previous match against the same team. The squad’s journey to the finals was defined by their relentless determination, their commitment to each other, and their mature approach to the high-stakes tournament.
A special congratulations to Amaiya, recognized as the standout player of the tournament. Playing up a year, she impressed everyone with her composure and precision in the shooting circle, stepping up as a true leader on the court.
